Immigrant Community Navigator & Outreach Coordinator

Position Description FTE: 0.5 (20 hours/week)

Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly, $24-28/hr

Reports to: Heather Chapman, Co-Executive Director

Position Summary

The Immigrant Community Navigator & Outreach Coordinator supports Unidos’s mission to serve our community by coordinating immigration-related programs, providing accurate information and referrals, and building relationships with community partners. This role helps ensure that immigrants in our community receive compassionate, culturally responsive support and build collective power for mutual aid. The Coordinator works closely with community members, volunteers, partner organizations, and leadership to strengthen outreach, education, and advocacy efforts related to immigration.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach and Engagement

  • Plan and implement immigration-related programs, workshops, and clinics.

  • Conduct community education efforts on immigrant rights and available resources.

  • Build relationships with immigrant families and community members.

  • Conduct outreach in churches, schools, and community centers.Help develop culturally appropriate materials in English and Spanish.

Information and Referral

  • Provide care and case management for families of individuals detained by immigration enforcement in South Orange County. 

  • Connect individuals to qualified immigration attorneys, accredited representatives, and trusted organizations.

  • Stay informed about changes in immigration policies affecting the community.

  • Participate in county-wide coalition meetings.Facilitate a monthly meeting of South Orange County providers for collaborative efforts.

Community Organization

  • Develop a network of immigrant-led community hubs who are poised to meet critical and urgent needs in their school, neighborhood or work-based network. 

  • Facilitate pathways for allies to provide needed support to these hubs when requested, whether tangible or financial. Provide ongoing care and connection with hub leaders for collective support and crisis management.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain program records, schedules, and participant data in an organized and confidential manner.

  • Prepare reports and assist with grant documentation as needed.

  • Help track program outcomes and community impact.

Preferred

Experience working in nonprofit, community outreach, or social services.Familiarity with immigration systems, community resources, or immigrant rights organizations.Experience coordinating events or volunteers.

Compensation & Benefits

Part Time: 20 hours per weekCoordinator Level: $24-28/hrWork Schedule: Flexible hours outside of direct program/event commitmentsPaid Time Off: Unidos offers scaled PTO. A 0.75 FTE employee receives 6 paid hours for each of the following:11 Holidays10 Vacation DaysStipends: $200 monthly stipend toward medical insurance; $40 monthly toward use of privately owned cellphone
