the teachers in our corner
This week, a student reached out in a panic, needing her volunteer hours at the last minute. While we couldn’t get them to campus in person, we were able to send them over to Mr. Healy at Marco Forster. Shortly after, he replied that the log had been printed and the student was relieved. A small moment, but one that reflects the kind of trust and follow-through our students rely on every day.
Mr. Healy is just one of many educators we’re fortunate to work alongside. Last night, at the San Juan Hills High School’s First Generation LI & ELR Ceremony, Mrs. Aguilar-Villalba, Mrs. Perez-Sanchez, and their colleagues invited us into a space where our students were recognized and celebrated. Mrs. Tufo, from St. Margaret’s, continues to lead our reclassification efforts, alongside Mrs. Spring and Mrs. Bunch, who also give their time to our academic programs.
Mrs. Sweeney at Capistrano Valley High School continues to advocate for her students and remains a trusted ally in this work. Mrs. Clark, from St. Margaret’s, leads our summer math initiative, supporting students beyond the school year. And Mrs. Rose, from Kinoshita Elementary, was the bridge that first connected us to the Capistrano Villas neighborhood, helping spark the work we continue to build on today.
These are just a handful of the teachers who support our students and families. Our work at Unidos is stronger because of these partnerships.
Rooted in trust and a shared commitment to our community.
These partnerships remind us that our community doesn’t stop at school gates or neighborhood limits. Our community lives in collaboration and in shared responsibility. We all have a role to play in supporting our students. It’s a true privilege to be part of this work and to learn from educators who show up for our students in ways that matter.
