In the spring each year, St. Margaret’s engages in teaching and learning about—and active support of—a need in the community in partnership with a local organization.
This year, St. Margaret’s is partnering with Unidos South OC as the selected community organization. Unidos South OC is dedicated to strengthening economic mobility, educational access, and community well-being for underserved families in South Orange County. Through this partnership, students will learn about local challenges, engage directly with community-driven work, and participate in hands-on projects designed to support Unidos South OC’s mission and the families it serves.
Service learning at St. Margaret’s aligns with the school’s mission and core values, aiming to create a deeper understanding of societal issues and their systemic causes, engender empathy, address authentic rather than perceived needs, build practical life skills through experiential projects, and nurture meaningful connection, engagement, and responsibility to serve the broader community. Unidos South OC provides an ideal partner for this work, offering students a real-world context in which to learn, reflect, and contribute.
