You can taste the love in the chilaquiles

Every first Saturday, something beautiful happens at our community breakfast. Volunteers show up before most people are awake. They come in carrying food donations with the kind of love you can actually taste. They bring their time, their care, their stories, and their sazón.

Because of them, a  breakfast becomes something much deeper.

"People come for breakfast, but they leave with connection."

Over breakfast and laughter, neighbors find each other. Families share updates. Conversations happen naturally. Sometimes funny, sometimes emotional, sometimes full of dreams or worries that finally have a place to land.

We also invite community partners to join us. Last month, a representative from Wellness & Prevention Center came to share about ALCOVE San Juan Capistrano, a program for young people ages 12–25 offering mental health support, physical health care, and peer connection. Good information, shared in a space people already trust.

After the food is gone, people stay. They help clean. They keep talking. Someone shares a dream. Someone shares a struggle. Someone else listens.

"This is love in action. The kind of work that cannot always be measured by numbers, but you can feel it."

People leave knowing they are welcomed and part of something bigger.

First Saturday of every month. Come hungry.

With gratitude,

Miriam Zuniga

Adult Program Director
